Custom gas systems, welding, and fabrication
J Matthews gets called into a building to solve a problem. Sometimes that means a custom gas panel for a toxic process gas, sometimes an orbital-welded tube run, sometimes core drilling a slab to get a line where it needs to go. Laboratories, universities and manufacturers bring us in to understand what they're actually trying to do — then we design, build and install whatever that turns out to require.
What we do
Custom gas panels
Purpose-built delivery panels for toxic, pyrophoric and corrosive process gases — regulators, valves, transducers and interlocks laid out on one plate and welded up as a single system. Built around the gas and the tool it feeds, rather than adapted from a catalogue panel that nearly fits.
Orbital welding
Automated, repeatable tube welds for high-purity and sanitary systems. An orbital head rotates the arc around a fixed tube, producing a consistent full-penetration weld with a smooth internal profile — the difference between a joint that stays clean and one that traps product and grows a biofilm.
Precision tube bending
Formed runs in place of welded elbows. Fewer joints means fewer leak paths, fewer crevices and less to inspect — usually cheaper to install and materially easier to validate.
Fabrication and installation
Components made to suit the space they're going into, and the site work to get them there — brackets and skids, core drilling through slab and block, routing lines through an occupied building without shutting it down.
System design and consulting
The part that comes before any of the above: working out what a system actually has to do, sizing and routing it, and separating the real requirements from the ones a specification inherited from the last project. Often the cheapest hour anyone spends on a job.

The work
A custom gas panel — regulators, pneumatic valves, check valves, venturi, all laid out and welded as one system in as small a footprint as possible. Stainless tube bending for gas delivery into a process tool. Exhausted cabinets for toxic process gases. New lab buildout; orbital welded stainless, Schedule 80 PVC, welded polypropylene for high purity DI water systems. Unparalleled craftsmanship and commitment to quality & attention to detail.
